A long leg...

Day 76: Saturday 25th July, 2026

Leka to Kuringvagen

Duration: 12 hours

The winds and rain that had been heavy overnight died by early morning, so we were up at 6.30am and cast off by 7 to get an early start on our double passage of 12 hours ahead.

Although long, the passage proved to be really calm with only a slight easterly which helped propel us south down the coast... through the inner leads and past Rorvik, and the start of going under bridges more regularly again ...

...which always look concerningly low...

...Safely under and beyond, the 3 hour open stretch of sea past the Folla pennisula was thankfully just a gentle rise and fall on the large, but well spaced waves... speeding by the familiar more rounded undulating hills of central Norway with its well spaced and unobtrusive wind turbines, gently turning and creating power.

(The Trondelag region here in central Norway has the most wind farms and wind power production in the country - holding roughtly 36%-40% of Norway's total wind generation capacity)...

...Next we passed Bessekar, where we had enjoyed the Hurtigruten Ferry come in to hoot and toot and enjoy the Norwegian welcome from the locals back in mid June...

...and then found ourselves behind four or five yachts all grabbing the same weather window to hurtle south...

...and all of which looked like they were heading for the same marina to tie up for the night...so we made a 'plan B' as the webcam showed there were only a few spots left...and stayed in line to enter the harbour...

...One boat sped on by, and the other two squeezed into very tight spots to give us a berth too, (the last one rafted to his travelling companions boat).. so we happily tied up to this lovely well sheltered dock...

...and after a short stroll had a late dinner aboard and had a fabulous nights sleep.
