Dodging showers and easing winds...
Day 55: Monday 22nd June, 2026 Bolga A slightly disturbed sleep with verrrry strong galey gusts (peaking at almost 50 knots), but the harbour of Bolga had proved a good choice by the Captain to sit it out. The winds eased as the day progressed, but the rains were heavy and the gusts still squally, so most of the day was spent aboard. A little brighter after lunch, and a need for fresh air and stretched legs, we donned our waterproofs and set out for a wee walk up the south we

Midsummer with battened hatches and tightly tied lines...
Day 54: Sunday 21st June, 2026 Bolga Island Today was mostly about this.... ...With severe gale force winds building through the day which were to peak in the early hours of tomorrow, it was a day to lay low, and get some laundry done at the good facilities of Bolga Brygge... ...with a few loads on, we grabbed a break in the rain to have a little amble round the south east of the island where all the 100 inhabitants live... ...and then as the clouds rolled back in, with more

Day 52: Friday 19th June, 2026 Brønnøysund to Nesna. Duration: 8hrs 5mins Heavy downpours overnight thankfully eased for our departure from Brønnøysund...but the skies remained grey... ...which sadly really limited our views out west to the island of Vega and all the surrounding skerries and islets (around 6,500 of them!) - which I had really wanted to see, as I had loved a book called 'A Place of Tides' by James Redbanks. It is a beautiful read which documents the author's

Bessaker - soggy boots and ferry hoots...
Day 49: Tuesday 16th June, 2026 Awoke to a dry but chilly day...anchor up, and off we went into the busy shipping channel of Grandevike...Past the Kjeungskaer Lighthouse, (I think I am developing a worrying love of lighthouses), which sits on a tiny skerry off Orlandet - where the waters can turn stormy, as the calm waters of Trondheimsfjord meet the more unpredictable waters of the Norwegian Sea. Built in 1880, the lighthouse was manned up until 1987 and now can be visited
