Day 62: Saturday 11th July, 2026.
Kabelvag to Henningsvaer
Duration: 1hr 50mins
The rain finally relented in the wee small hours and we awoke to the unusual sight of sunshine and bits of blue skies...so it was time to say goodbye to Kabelvag...

...and make the very short but bumpy hop to Henningsvaer - know as the 'Venice of the North' - a popular picturesque fishing village made up of a string of small islands connected by bridges, breakwaters and stone embankments...

...on approach to the two pontoons at the end of the channel, and in the heart of the village, we were pleasantly surprised to see there was lots of space for us...

...so after tying up, connecting some power and taking a moment to appreciate the beautiful views of these low lying islets against the dramatic background of the cloud-hugging mountains behind, we went ashore to explore. ...First up was Henningsvaer football pitch...one of the most unique football pitches in the world, built on a high rocky islet with that dramatic rocky backdrop...reminiscent for us of the less manicured pitch on the Isle of Eriskay ...

...Next up an al-fresco coffee at the hip and trendy Trevarefabrikken - a former lumber yard and cod liver oil factory building that was bought by two sets of young, nature-loving hiker brothers from Bergen over a decade ago, who slowly developed the huge space into a bar/cafe/music venue/hotel/yoga space and local cultural hub - not to mention its lovely wee ocean sauna...

...then a stroll 'downtown' through the lovely wee streets and harbour fronts, with its array of cafes and restaurants and small shops selling local arts and crafts...

...stopping for a light lunch at the climbers' cafe on the wharf - keeping a watchful eye on the hungry looking gull...

...and then back to the boat for a wee while, and an evening stroll to gather our energy for a late night ahead, watching Norway play England in the World Cup quarter final back at Trevarefabrikken...

...a passionate but unaggressive crowd ushered on their side but England always looked like they would bag the win...so we sidled away, back to the comfort of the boat, and watched the remainder there...before retiring to bed...
