Day 50: Wednesday 17th June, 2026.

Bessaker to Rorvik

Duration: 7hrs 30mins

A quick up and out this morning, helped by lovely blue skies...

...mainsail up and engine on, we said goodbye to friendly flagwaving Rorvik and headed northeast through Osenfjord...

...along the Buholmen peninsula...and then past Buholmrasa lighthouse...

...which marked our entry into the most prolonged passage in open water so far, north and northeast along Folda, with its mild but persistent swell, and chilly winds...

...and then the Naeroysund lighthouse, marked the return of some shelter from the Inner-Vikna shore and the Naeroysundet strait...

...and just when the Captain got comfy in the sun, the Grinna lighthouse came into view...

...which announced our approach to the Naeroysund bridge ...

...Once safely under, a swift left turn into Rorvik Marina, which looked busy...

...but we managed to find the last open spot along the hammerhead, and tied up...

... and then, as is our habit, went ashore for a peek...at the few historic wooden warehouses and harbour buildings that still stand today...

...with its noisy kittewake colonies...

and the modern Kystmuseet Coastal Museum with its sleek metal and glass sailed facade...

The town is the largest port facility in Central Norway, and a major hub for Norway's express coastal ferries, with large shops and a modern air. Exuding an industrial feel overall, but able to make architectural nods to its coastal traditions of the past with its new housing developments...

...it offered lots of marked walking paths for us to stretch our legs...so we took a short loop around a pleasingly green Gluggen hill ...

...and then headed back to the boat for an tasty pasta dinner and a nice quiet night's sleep.
