Day 47: Sunday 14th June, 2026.

Trondheim

Strong winds and cloudy skies, so another day in Trondheim. The city's hustle and bustle ebbs away on Sunday, so we decided to do the popular 8km coastal hiking path along the Lade pennisula..an urban start through the dock area and then the official path begins at the the 'Megaphone" at Ladehammeren- a large trumpet shaped installation which was developed by architecture students at NDNU - which you can peep through toward Munkholmen Island or use as a megaphone....we chose to do the former...

...a pleasant stroll along a gravel path where the Captain practiced his sashay swing walk ...

...and had thankfully finished by the time we reached the cafe at Ladekaia - a refurbished WW2 warehouse, where you can still see the narrow guage rail tracks the German forces used to supply ammunition to their bunkers...

...on past the lovely Kafe Smedstua and it's homegrown veg..

...where the coffee drinkers were patently trying to ignore the lady unashamedly squatting on the lawn...

...and purposely ignoring the toilet facilities offered on the path ahead!! ... (we really love the signage for the toilet doors here which are much more descriptive of the feeling of needing to find a loo..)

...and then the 8km stroll was done, and we hopped on a handy train back to the boat and had a quiet evening in...planning the next leg and beyond...
