Day 43: Wednesday 10th June, 2026
Kristiansund
A drop of 11 degrees overnight - so coats and layers back on...with strong gusty winds forecast and a bit of rain, we decided to spend another day here and take an 11km hike to Kristiansund's highest peak..Another quick ride on the Sundbaten ferry to Nordlandnet and a walk through a more urban neighbourhood and then onto a forest path....

...and then the 300 sherpa steps up the 300m ascent...

to the summit, with views over the town centre and airport runway, and out over the Nordmore region...

...where ear-splittingly loud sirens rang out from all directions, and our phones started buzzing...Emergency Alert - Immediate Danger!...Emergency Alert - Immediate Danger...

...but thankfully when we scrolled down, there was an english version too...

...not the wholesome holistic feeling we were expecting at the top, and a sign of the times we are living in perhaps, we made our way back down hill...

...and took the ferry back to grab a very late lunch and return to the boat for the evening to make a plan for tomorrow's destination....
