Views and Adieu's ....

Day 27: Tuesday 26th May, 2026.
Bergen
Woke to an overcast but dry day, which felt perfect for our first Norwegian mountain hike.
Bergen is surrounded by seven mountains - the highest of which, Ulriken, has a cable-car that takes you to the summit...
...but we decided to stretch our legs and zig-zag our way up the 642 metre stoney path...
...with a few wrong turns...
...and some atmospheric views...
...we climbed higher and higher...
...admiring the wood anemones, and unfurled ferns...
...then into the thickening cloud and the mist...
...till we reached the cable-car and cafe...
...where we had a lovely lunch ...and when we came out the skies had cleared enough to give us a view...
...Then into the cable-car and a quick ride back down...
...so that we could head back to the boat for our able crew to dry off and pack up...and then head off back to warmer and sunnier climes...
...We were sad to see them go, but had appreciated their help on the crossing and enjoyed sharing the first few days of Norway with them. So back to a crew of two and some planning to do!
